He is a fourth generation citizen of  Colorado County and a second generation Justice of the Peace. Judge Hefner grew up in the Garwood area, graduated from Garwood High School in 1961  and graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1965.  After a brief teaching career, Judge Hefner joined his father in the rice farming and cattle ranching industry. Judge Hefner is aware of the many responsibilities of a Justice of the Peace in rural areas. As Justice  of the Peace for Precinct One in Colorado County, Judge Hefner is committed to giving all citizens  the very best service with fairness, integrity, and compassion within the boundaries  of the laws of the State of Texas. The court is located at 2215 Walnut, Columbus, Texas 78934 inside the Colorado County Detention Facility.  The office is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The Court does not accept  personal checks for payment of fines. Payment MUST be in the form of a cashier’s check or  money order made payable to Justice of the Peace, Precinct One – Colorado County.  Payment may be made by credit card (American Express, Master Card, Visa, and Discover) by calling 1-888-357-8394 or visiting www.officialpayments.com.  You WILL NEED your ticket or citation number, driver license number and date of birth to pay by credit card.  Once at site, click Local Payments and enter Jurisdiction Code 6310.  Official Payments, the service provider, charges a nominal fee for this service. If payment is made by credit card, paperwork MUST be mailed in.
